YOU ARE CYCLOPS
One Eye and Depth Perception (at Night)
Imagine your headlight as an eye, perceived by another’s eye.
Yeah. Think about that. An eye seen by another eye. Or in humans, an eye seen by two eyes.
Your headlight is a source of light seen by the car and by truck drivers with their two eyes. The singularity of your one headlight illusionary way cancels out their two eyes.
In other words, their binocular vision is lost because your motorcycle only has one source of light.
The practical depth perception deficit unfortunately translates into the two-eyed driver seeing your one-eyed motorcycle as FARTHER AWAY THAN YOU REALLY ARE.
That means they won’t brake for you or won’t slow for you. They think you are farther away than you actually are.
Think of “OBJECTS IN YOUR MIRROR MAY BE CLOSER THAN THEY APPEAR.”
Deano says it is hard being a cyclops. But he would have it no other way.
Here are solutions to this problem to protect you and make sure you never have to search “motorcycle accident lawyer” on the Internet:
WATCH YOUR BACK!
Everybody wants to be cool and motorcycle manufacturers spend millions perfecting the image of a biker leaving someone in the dust.
This translates into a lot of stylish or sensible taillights.
Like bicycle (pedal bike) manufacturers continue selling bikes without any taillights.
It is imperative (an order from the imperator) you upgrade your rear lighting! People will run up on you and sometimes you don’t even see the reaper right behind you.
When the reaper points at you, “Next time.” Not this time.
Check out J&P Cycles for some great ways to avoid a motorcycle accident.
But look out for the sticker shock. Lights can be expensive.
Maybe that is why motorcycle manufacturers don’t include a lot of lighting on bikes?
